The BSOA program is designed to train graduates with business and office management skills required in various work spaces.
The Bachelor of Science in Office Administration is a four-year program in which students would be prepared for a career in an outcome-focused, technology rich, professional environment.
Specifically, students are to be trained with such program on the business and office management skills required in various work spaces like business, legal or medical offices. A graduate is then expected to efficiently handle administrative, supervisory, clerical, and managerial tasks.
The program resulted from combination of courses on office administration, management and technology and such combination is purposely to qualify graduates on their assumption of various positions be it in the local or global workplace.
These varied courses are so designed also to equip students for self-employment as an alternate job placement. The courses include current techniques in office practice and procedures, developments in office systems and technology, good team working and managerial skills, and application of the principles of good human relations and communications for them to be key players in day-to-day office operations like writing routine reports and correspondence and speaking effectively to employers, employees, and the general public.
There are a variety of jobs to choose from within office administration. The field is vast and includes working as a receptionist, bookkeeper, office administrator, executive assistant, medical receptionist, medical office administrator, legal office administrator, administrative support specialist, administrative assistant, office manager, secretary, payroll clerk, accounts payable, accounts receivable, customer service representative, and data entry clerk.
